Tunnels are their realm: Orion and Hydra level wind reels provide reliable power to Tunnel Boring Machines (TBM).
Tunnel Boring Machines bore the tunnels for metro, railways, highways, aqueducts, wastewater and sometimes even main mines galleries. They are built especially for one project and their main components are reused for future projects. The very powerful TBMs require High Voltage power and operate on kilometric travel lengths. They also require water and slurries to be carried to the drilling head, and muds to be removed.
Each TBM is engineered to the precise diameter of the tunnel to bore and in turn, Orion reels are engineered for each TBM. They can be made long and thin to fit smaller TBMs. For different space requirements, Hydra has no end bearings and rolls on rollers.
We also offer an option of AtEx slip rings under a separate enclosure installed within the drum.

Specification
- Spools made from drawn steel sheets from 1 m up to 3 m diameter and 2 m to 6 m length, customized to the TBM (Tunnel Boring Machine)
- European gearboxes with electric, hydraulic or pneumatic motors and control panel to carefully manage the cable
- Reeling slip rings from Low Voltage up to 1 kV and High Voltage from 3 kV to 42,3 kV, both at 800 A
- Slip ring housing options: external, inside the drum for extra compactness and/or AtEx.
- Reeling cables up to 500 m, terminated and installed on the drum, with different couplers options
- Super-compact Hydra version, without winding system, with slip ring inside the drum and one flange on rollers
